Christy Bella Joiner
High Fashion Model/Actress
About
Christy Bella Joiner always aspired to be the next Marilyn Monroe. Born May 16, 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia, the sweet southern belle became involved in modeling at a young age and it has been her life's passion ever since. Stumbling upon some of her parents' vintage magazines featuring the blonde bombshell, Christy was enamored and inspired to pursue a career of her own.
Always passionate about the arts, Christy grew up as a classically trained pianist, playing the works of Chopin and Mozart at the tender age of five, and was discovered in her teenage years by the former conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, who took her on for a number of performances.
Self-described as compassionate, tenacious and caring, Christy has persevered and considers herself blessed by the opportunities she has been given. Though she has worked very hard at her accomplishments, she has been vehement in preserving her beliefs and has not allowed her morals, values and integrity to be sacrificed or diminished for the sake of her art.
"I have been absurdly blessed with my accomplishments and God deserves all the credit."
Career
As a child, Christy thrived in front of the camera, playing dress-up with her mother and posing for photographs in costumes and elegant clothing. Her mother, a collector of beautiful designer garments, helped instill an appreciation for fashion and beauty in Christy and helped hone her skills through dress-up games. It was not until the pair was approached by a local business to do some print work, that they realized Christy's potential and her love for the modeling world began to flourish.
Christy values the importance of education and did not allow her career path to interfere with her desire to pursue higher education, which included attending the University of Alabama, Georgia State University and University of Georgia, where she is an alumnus of Kappa Delta sorority. Christy also won a national poetry contest for the poem “The Death Of Me”. The poem was published in the International Library of Poetry and granted the Editor’s Choice Award.
Christy found great success available to her in modeling, gracing the pages and covers of several publications such as Maxim Magazine, Hawaiian Tropic, Stuff Magazine, and Playboy and has worked as Spokesmodel for Anheiser Bush and Nevichi Cosmetics. Christy has also made the cross-over into the high fashion world, modeling in campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Chanel and Neiman Marcus and aspires to work more in high fashion in the future. She has begun to pursue opportunities in the acting world, having performed work in television and film, appearing in hit television shows The Tudors and Entourage and in the movies Hostel: Part II and Employee of the Month with Dane Cook.
"I am passionate about acting because it allows me to empathize with characters I would not ordinarily understand in life."
Life
Though she may seem like the picture of perfection, Christy has had her fair share of trials and tribulations, which is part of the reason she wants to help other people with their own struggles, through awareness. Having battled depression and suffering from low self-esteem, Christy is finally able to open up about her life-long secret, the fight against panic disorder.
Knowing that confronting her own demons and being able to show other people that their struggles can be overcome, can help empower people to take control of their own lives.
“If my experience can benefit others, what is the point of keeping it a secret? Life is about choices and I have found that when I fall, I must get up and keep on going and trust that God’s grace is sufficient for me.”
Christy is heavily involved with events, promotions and fundraising for the American Cancer Society, a cause dear to her heart, having lost her father to prostate cancer. As an animal lover, she also works with People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), modeling for their billboard and poster advertisements and brochures to raise awareness and inform the public on the ongoing struggle against animal cruelty. She is also involved with the Make A Wish Foundation.
She credits much of her pride in her career to her relationship with close friend and mentor, Supermodel Kathy Ireland. Christy says that Kathy has taught her the value of preserving her Christian morals, the importance of family life and being a good person both personally and professionally.
Appreciative of art in all forms, Christy hopes to become the most successful model, actress, musician and writer that she can be, known for her integrity and good heart. She hopes to one day be a household name, so that she can in turn use her notoriety to make a difference in the lives of others.
