Autobiography
It’s funny, the only reason I decided to get into television was because a girl in high school said I had a good radio voice…the power of female persuasion. Although, it’s possible she wasn’t actually talking to me
me…hmm. Well anyway, it’s all worked out pretty well.
It’s been hard to write this bio after having my heart broken on The Bachelorette by Ali – though I’ve managed to pull myself together. Being a contestant on the show was certainly an asterisk in my life. And now even my parents refer to me as “The Weatherman”. The Bachelor Pad was another shot at love, but this time I left only with empty pockets.
Since then, I put all my stuff in a storage unit in Houston, TX, packed my air mattress, and moved to L.A. (Update for the ladies: I’ve upgraded to a futon). Now I say funny things on a stage at comedy clubs. I actually started my stand-up comedy career in college, before my venture into television. I opened up for some big names like Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Wright. Ask them, they’ll remember me. I’ve appeared at the Houston Laff Spot and Improv, as well as the Hollywood Comedy Store, Improv, and other spots around L.A.
Prior to moving to LA, I spent three years pointing and smiling at KPRC- TV for millions of people in Houston, TX. The weather is fun, but I also covered entertainment and music around the area, including the annual South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin and Houston happenings. Other feature segments include a local spin-off of NBC’s The Biggest Loser, which inspired me to build the enormous, imposing 155lb figure I have today. Got tickets to the gun show?
Before Houston I was one of only six people in Miami who managed to not get a tan. I spent over two years there covering the daily weather, as well as the record-breaking hurricane season of 2005. I also covered celebs on the red carpets of South Beach. And I pulled off offending Pauly Shore at his birthday, which I’ll cherish for a long time.
Lubbock was home before Miami. It was like the beach, but with no water. There I reported hard news and weather for three years. I also covered local entertainment, and even fronted my own popular (yes, very very popular), comedic movie review called “Don’t Take My Word For It!”
As for my schooling, I was ‘learned real good’ up north, at Syracuse University – very cold. I had an icicle fall on me once…in August. Braving the snow, I got my degree in broadcast journalism. But being more than big biceps and flowing blonde hair, I sought out a degree in philosophy as well. Yes, I’m one of those deep weathermen (if there’s thunder in the forest and no one is there to hear….never mind).
And to prove I know what I’m talking about, I earned a certification in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University as well as my Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. So there.
But in the end, Boston is home. It took me 30 years to get rid of my accent, so please don’t ask me to do it. I grew up in Canton, MA, headquarters of Dunkin' Donuts. It’s a very exciting town.
Over the last six months I’ve had some amazing experiences including a comedic Hosting cameo gig on The Dish on E! Network, as well as on the show Reality Obsessed as a reality dating expert. I’ve been interviewed on cool entertainment news programs like Extra TV and have broadened my entertainment news career and also become a freelance journalist; writing my deep, reality show thoughts for Radar Online and Life & Style Magazine, and more.
In my free time, I love a good movie, playing tennis, guitar, writing music…and writing this bio. And yes, if you’ve heard, it’s true – I also enjoy home improvement projects and listening to talk radio. Don’t get too excited.
